Lara Marshall Lisbe, LCSW
How long and how many times a week is a typical session?
Sessions are 50 minutes and most clients are seen 1-2 times a week in the beginning and then less frequently as time progresses.
What are your fees and do you accept insurance?
I am not in network with any insurance companies and work on a traditional fee-for-service basis (please inquire directly about current session fees). Cash, check or credit card at time of service is accepted for payment. I have chosen not to accept insurance in order to tailor treatment to each individual's needs, rather than by what insurance providers allow. However, as a courtesy, I am happy to provide you with a superbill for monthly sessions, which you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Reimbursement for out-of-network providers depends on your benefits and coverage.
What can I expect in my first session?
Our first session is an intake and assessment to determine if we are the correct fit. Choosing a therapist is a highly personal decision and I strive to invite you in to a warm and welcoming environment. Once we establish a rapport, I am confident that I can help you. I will gather relevant history, both past and present, and we will discuss the current issues which bring you to therapy. You will also have an opportunity to ask me any questions you may have.
I tried therapy before and it didn't work - I just talked and nothing happened. Why should I try it again?
Sometimes the chemistry between the therapist and client or the therapeutic modality just isn't a good fit. Just as you sometimes have to switch medication, you may need to switch therapists or treatment modalities to achieve success. My style is down-to-earth and interactive, which most clients find inviting and helpful. I offer a variety of treatment approaches that address different types of problems from different angles. We will work collaboratively to determine the right type and length of therapy for you.
